Our Christmas name of the day is Star. Star is a word name that means "star." She peaked in 1980 at 895. In 1999 she fell off the charts completely. Nowadays she's seen as more of a trashy name, but Star could make a stellar middle name choice.
The most famous Star would be Star Jones, former co-host of The View. Star could be a nickname for a number of names including Starina, Starla, Starlet, Starry, and Staria.
Often times, Star is considered a Christmas name because of her associtaion with the star on top of the Christmas tree, the twinkle starry lights, or the North Star. She would make an uncommon choice that is perfect for the holidays.

25 Days of Christmas: Holiday
Happy Sunday! Our Christmas baby name of the day is Holiday. Holiday has never been ranked in the U.S. top 1000. She means "holiday" and is obviously a word name. Other spellings include Holliday, Holidae, Holidaye, and Holaday.
The only real nickname for Holiday would be Holly. That is the nickname of Holiday's most famous wearer, Holiday Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Holiday is played by Audrey Hepburn.
Holiday is one of my personal favorite Christmastime names. She's fun, unique, and an overall lovely choice. She works for other holidays too, but seems especially relevant at Christmas.

25 Days of Christmas: Neve
Even though it hasn't snowed yet in Chicago, our baby name today is Neve. If you couldn't guess already, Neve means "snow." She is Latin and has never been in the U.S. top 1000. In Ireland, she is more commonly spelled Niamh.
Famous Neves include the actress Neve Campbell, and Conan O'Brien's daughter, Neve O'Brien. Neve has no obvious nicknames, which can be a good thing, depending on how you look at it.
Neve's meaning makes her perfect for a holiday or winter baby. Especially if she is born on a snowy day. She's an uncommon choice, but not too out-there. Neve strikes the perfect balance.

25 Days of Christmas: Poinsettia
Our Christmas baby name for today is Poinsettia. Poinsettia is a red Christmas flower. She is not ranked in the U.S. top 1000. Poinsettia is very out-there, she's defintely not for the conservative namer.
Poinsettia is a long name, but she has some nickname possibilites. Some of them include Pia, Settia, and Posy. This makes her all the more useable.
She's an interesting Christmas pick, best paired with a short middle name. You have to be brave to use this one. Check back tomorrow for our next Christmas name.

He is considered a classic by many, Nicholas has been in the top 200 ever since the 1880s (when they started taking name data.)
Nicholas has many great nicknames, ranging from the classic Cole, Colin, Nick, or Nicky, to the on-trend Nico. Some famous Nicholas' include Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, and Nicolas Sparks, the author.
Nicholas is great for a baby born any month of the year. His ties to "Saint Nick" could help make a subtle themed sib set. Nicholas is a well-regarded classic, he would make a great choice for a holiday baby boy.

25 Days of Christmas: Carol
Our Christmas name today is Carol. She is the English version of Charles, and means "free man." She peaked in the 1940s, ranking at #5. Today she would mostly be considered a "grandma name" but on a baby she might sound fresh again.
Carol has many full name options, including more modern ones like Caroline and Carolina, and also under-used choices like Carlotta, Carolyn, and Carline. She also works on her own, or would be great in the middle spot.
Carol is a great name that merges holiday and music. If you want a unexpected, old-fashioned name for your baby girl, Carol would make a lovely, simple choice.

25 Days of Christmas: Noel
Today's name is another unisex one- Noel. Noel is currently ranked at 455 in the U.S. for boys. His meaning is "Chrismas." The feminine Noelle is a little more popular, coming in at #357. The spelling Noel is much more popular for boys than it is girls.
Noel has been slowly decreasing in popularity ever since his peak in 1938. His lack of use is just one of the reasons he would make a great choice. Noel has no nicknames and would also be a very unexpected choice. He is very associated with Christmas, but if that's what you're going for, he should be at the top of the list for boys.
