Names With the -ara Sound

When you think of names with the -ara sound at the end, your first thought will most likely be Sarah. She was in the top ten, from '78 to '02. Like me, you probably know many Sarahs of all ages. Here are some other less popular -ara sounding names

Ara- This Arabic name is just okay to me.
Cara- I like this name, but it reminds me too much of Jon and Kate plus 8.
Clara- I really like this name. It's very beautiful, and it means bright.
Farrah- I don't like this name at all. It sounds very stuck-up to me.
Kara- Another form of Cara. I don't like this spelling as much.
Tamara- It sounds very 70's to me, probably because she would have the nickname Tammy.
Tara- I don't mind this one. Tara is one of the better ones on this list.
Vara/Vera- I like it pronounced VEAR-uh, but not VARE-uh.

Mamma Mia! The Names From the Movie

As you may or may not know, Mamma Mia! is my favorite movie. It's not because I share a name with the main character (though that's pretty cool), but instead because I love movie musicals. I thought I would analyze the characters and actors names today.

Sophia (Sophie)- A beautiful name of course, but WAY too overused.
Amanda- She is one of my favorite actresses, but her name is too plain. The "man" in there bothers me.
Donna- A good choice for a women that age, but it's personally not my style.
Meryl- I really like this name. It's not too feminine, but very stylish (Meryl Streep is my all time favorite actress).
Sam- Could they have picked more boring names for these men? Sam is so boring.
Pierce- Very interesting. I prefer Pierre, the French version, but I can see Pierce getting popular.
Harry- Again, a boring choice. I am surprised that this name isn't more popular today, considering our country's love for Harry Potter.
Colin: This name is okay. It reminds me of a colon.
Bill- I get why they used this form of William, but I prefer Will or especially Liam.
Stellan: This is a really cool name. I wouldn't use it, but it sounds like stellar, which is completly awesome!
Sky: Eww. I hate this name for a boy. I hate it for a girl too, but especially for a guy.
Dominic: This is an amazing name. It sounds cool and modern, but not flashy.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Look forward to more movie character name analyses!

Unisex Names: The Ones I Prefer for Boys

Unisex names I prefer for boys: Tyler, Charlie, Brady, Alex, Finley, Jaden, Mason, Nico, Micah, Phoenix, Rowan, Sam, Toby, Tony.

Unisex Names: The Ones I Prefer for Girls

Unisex names I prefer for girls: Harper, Riley, Allison, Morgan, Reese, Devin, Terry, Kit, Reid, Alexis, Avery, Ryan, Casey, Dakota, Dana, Dominique, Drew, Dylan, Emerson, Evan, Hayden, Jess, Kennedy, Kyle, Lane, London, Paris, Peyton, Reagan, Rilo, Sasha, Skylar, Teagan, Taylor, Sidney, Cassidy.
As you can probably tell, I like a lot more unisex names for girls than for boys. I even like names more associated with boys better for girls ex: Ryan, Reid, Evan. That's just my style, I'd be interested to see what you guys think!

Jennifer

My mom's name is Jennifer. Very common for people born around her time, in fact, the year she was born it was number 2, and the next year, number 1. In honor of Mother's Day tomorrow, We are going to take a look at the name Jennifer. Jennifer is an English name. It means fair phantom or white wave. It originates from the beautiful name Guinevere. Jennifer was most popular in the 1970's, as the number one name for baby girls. Right now it is ranked number 120 for babies. That's still relatively popular. All in all, Jennifer is a very beautiful name that was way overused in the past. Happy Mother's Day.

SSA List!!!!

It is a very special time of year for all of us baby name lovers. Yes, you guessed it, it's May- the month when they release the SSA list for the most popular baby names of the previous year. Let me tell you that I am a bit surprised. MY NAME IS NUMBER 2!!! The all caps is out of anger. Why is my name so poular? Add in all the alternate spellings and it's number one. Lovely. This is terrible. Anyways, even though I am genuinely upset about this, I wont let it ruin my excitement of the fact that it is actually here! My favorite names are in the six hundreds-off the list so they are protected. I hope all of you got a chance to see the list. If you didn't, check it out!
